The software platform landscape in the Netherlands is rapidly growing, think of Uber, Booking.com, and Thuisbezorgd. Online platforms that you probably use in your personal life. Until recently, the logistics sector wasn't very innovative, however with the arrival of UTURN, that changed. UTURN has made it its mission to make container transport more efficient, transparent, and sustainable, and become the number one platform for logistics. A day as a dev

As a Backend Developer at UTURN, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of transportation technology. You will collaborate with a talented team of engineers and developers to design, implement, and maintain robust backend systems that power our innovative platform.

It's Monday and you had a very eventful weekend. You start your day at the office around 9:00h and get a (hot) beverage. You start with opening Slack to see if there are any new messages and check some PR's that are still open from previous week. At 9:30h you have the daily stand-up with the team and product owner. You discuss what you did previous working day and what you'll focus on today. Another team member asks if you have some time today to pair-program with them as they can't figure something out. Every Monday at 11:00h there is a weekly check-in with the entire company where each department updates you on what they did previous week, and what their focus is for this week. After this meeting you go and get some lunch and discuss the weekend. Back from lunch you check the sprint and see what ticket is next on your list. Once you have finished it, you offer you GitHub PR to you peers for review while you go to the next ticket. You may or may not receive some feedback on your PR which you easily resolve before you merge the PR and our CI/CD pipeline takes care of the production deployment. It's already 17h by now and it's time to enjoy your free evening, see you tomorrow!

What we expect from you

Simply put, you write great code and help us move and grow even faster. With that said, your profile looks a bit like this:

• 4+ years development experience
• 2+ years Spring and Postgresql experience
• Experience or want to learn Node/Typescript
• You are available to work at our Rotterdam office on Monday and Thursday (hard requirement)
• GitHub actions and CI/CD pipelines are not new to you
• You are familiar with Cloud environments
• You are critical and not afraid to push back when needed
• Flexible attitude when the situation asks for it
• Willing to learn
• Push hard, failure is okay we are all human. As long as you are willing to learn
• Frontend skills are a big plus
